The headless mode was designed to help new pilots who are learning how to fly their drones. When you connect your controller to the drone, it has an orientation that has nothing to do with the direction of your drone.

This makes controlling the drone strange at first because if you move your controller away from yourself, the drone will begin moving towards you; if you move the controller to your right, it will begin moving left.

when you reorient the controller with respect to your drone, it may not make sense in reference to what is happening on screen.

The headless mode button (not the same as a headless mode) allows you to tell the drone that forward is always towards its front, left is always to its left, and so on. This makes flying the drone much easier because you know that if it’s heading away from you, the controls will make sense.

When Should Headless Mode Be Used?

Headless Mode is an option that allows you to fly a drone using your controls as opposed to the direction of the drone’s nose (front). This mode comes in handy when you cannot determine which direction your front-facing – is.
